Sandra Jauregui
Born and raised in Hacienda Heights, California, Sandra moved to Las Vegas in 2009 to complete her bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She began her early political career by interning with Senate majority leader Harry Reid, focusing her efforts on housing and mortgage policy. Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui took office in 2016, working on policies to provide affordable housing, protecting our public lands, and creating a safer Nevada for our families.
Since 2017, Sandra has Chaired the Assembly’s Commerce and Labor Committee and is now the Majority Leader of the State Assembly. A survivor of the 1 October mass shooting in Las Vegas, Sandra turned her grief into action and is now a national champion for gun safety policies. Sandra’s work, leadership, and skills have continued to be recognized - from her Emily’s List Rising Star nomination to being named a Rising Latina Star by the Latin Chamber of Commerce - Assemblywoman Jauregui represents the next generation of young, energetic, and diverse leadership in Nevada.
